Nevertheless, the Elements package has a lot to offer in addition to the basics. It allows you to work on your files even if you aren’t a Photoshop user, since it has all of the files necessary to open, edit and save both images and video. Photoshop Elements can be used to open, edit and save digital images. Elements offers many basic editing functions and tools, but it’s not a professional tool by any stretch of the imagination. However, as an attractive user interface, photo-editing programs such as Photoshop do not exist. In addition, Elements offers a lot of functions and features that are easy to use and accessible. It is important to keep in mind that you don’t need Photoshop to edit images. If you are familiar with Photoshop, or even if you are not, you should definitely consider trying Elements. The reason is that the Basic package of Photoshop Elements does not offer any of the advanced tools that professionals use. Elements has enough in its Basic package to allow photographers to create stylish and attractive images that will meet their needs. Elements is not a replacement for Photoshop. It’s a professional tool for those who don’t want to switch from one application to another. For example, it is ideal for hobbyists, amateur photographers and photographers who are interested in making changes to their images and creating new ones. Adobe Photoshop vs Adobe Photoshop CC With Photoshop CC, you get a lot of the features that are in Elements but also have the new features and improvements that give it a professional edge. In other words, the lack of a lot of Photoshop’s advanced features is a little bit of a letdown when you compare the two. Photoshop is far superior when it comes to designing images. 05a79cecff

By Maggie Shiels Technology reporter, BBC News, Silicon Valley International software companies are busy working on tools that make home-grown devices more secure, but problems in the US are slowing the process. An internal survey by PTC, a maker of home security devices, suggests that US firms are considering using mobile networks in their products as a way to extend their reach to home users. “Many of us feel we can’t make our products international and keep them [cannot] rely on the network operators because of a lack of compatible [equipment],” Andrew Saxon, director of product management for home security, told BBC News. Many home users are using mobile networks for access to the internet, but the current equipment is incompatible, leaving most companies unable to use the carriers’ networks for their own purposes. A problem, as the PTC survey indicates, at the moment is that the standards for communicating between wired and wireless networks are not compatible. Manufacturers are therefore working to create new wireless standard after standard. “This is why we are approaching the mobile operators to work with us on the standard,” says Mr Saxon. MIIBAND MIIBAND is one of the more high-profile examples of the efforts to create new standards. This year, for instance, mobile operators in Europe announced their plans to create a new wireless standard that will also work within the EU. But US security firms believe that there is still a lack of compatibility in equipment and services. In December, technology consortium AIM developed the Secure Frequency Hopping spread spectrum, which will take about two years to be used in the home. This means that the communication must be able to change its frequency and receive each change, as the typical radio in a mobile phone can’t. So far, the standard has only been used for industrial purposes, including detecting intruders in large facilities. The consortium behind the project also revealed details of the services they will use in the future. AIM would provide a wireless device, for instance, and callers would be given the encryption key. Another technology being used for protecting home communications is WPA2, which is already in use by most of the large US carriers. With WPA2, the user gets a code to enter into their computer or device, and the security is checked automatically. Although WPA2 is much easier to set up, it has a limitation in that it relies on the user’s fixed internet connection. The option that is attracting most interest, however, is 802.11i, which

Walsh wins by a nose Horse granted entry for event WALSH, Pa. – The highlight of the Kentucky Three Day Event had nothing to do with the athletes or their performances. Richard Walsh’s jockey, Jessica Auerbach, a former gymnast, was able to take advantage of her uncanny ability to carry her horse, Tailwind, through the grueling schedules of the 3-day event and produce an eight-length victory over Irish-bred stablemate Kinsman. In a competition that saw a record-tying total of $3.4 million in purse money, Walsh (holding the lead after the first mount on 2-year-old filly Kinsman) won by a nose with a time of 1:49.24 over Kinsman. “It was a good ride; we knew the horse could do it,” Walsh said of Kinsman. “We kind of got lucky and caught the perfect spot. It was really fun.” Walsh, 24, of South Buffalo, N.Y., is the son of three-time leading jockey Hall of Fame inductee Jay Joel. The first of four mounts for the day came on Kinsman in the three-maiden division. Kinsman pulled around in the first fraction, but Walsh promptly finished off the race with a strong whip around the far turn and took the lead with about 1 1/8 miles to go. “It was the best ride I’ve ever had; I knew the horse could run, but I didn’t know the horse could do this,” Auerbach said. “I don’t think anybody expected this to happen. I don’t think anybody thought he could be back in the lead, so (the win) means a lot.” Walsh stayed with Kinsman through the stretch and into the end, nearly upsetting the rail with about 1/8 of a mile left. However, the pair kicked down into home stretch with Kinsman pulling away. “We were doing everything we could,” Walsh said. “We had the lead and we had to just relax and let them go. The horse did everything we asked. He didn’t flinch; he just listened to his rider.” Kinsman’s last race was an allowance on June 9, when he ran fourth, beaten by a neck, in the $77,503 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G
